Hivern Discs kicks off the celebrations of its 10th anniversary with the exhibition No Sleep Since 2008, a show that will bring together work by artists who are close to the label in order to explore its identity beyond music. The exhibition will feature pieces by multidisciplinary creators such as Jordi Labanda, Nacho Alegre, Arnau Pi, Anna Domínguez, Dedo Ciego and Pau López Peñalver, among others. No Sleep Since 2008 opens on November 17th and can be visited until November 30th at the H2O gallery in Barcelona (Verdi, 152).

Hivern Discs has always understood that a record label’s mechanisms of expression go beyond music. That’s why, on the occasion of our 10th anniversary, we want to bring together artists who are close to us to contribute their particular visions of Hivern Discs’ universe through practices such as graphic design, photography, illustration, audiovisual creation or installations.

No Sleep Since 2008 will feature a soundtrack produced specially for the occasion by label artists John Talabot, Khidja, Steve Pepe and Lawrence Le Doux: four pieces of an ambient nature, envisioned to accompany the exhibition while at the same time representing various facets of the label’s musical character. The four cuts make up a vinyl record that will be distributed along with a publication that is set to be presented the same day of the opening.

The publication, titled the same as the exhibition, collects texts written by journalists who are in the label’s orbit including Philip Sherburne, Shawn Reynaldo and Franc Sayol and features the participation of artists such as John Talabot, Jordi Labanda, Ivan Smagghe, Khidja, Marc Piñol, Eva Geist, Arnau Pi, Lawrence Le Doux, Xavier Marin and Alicia Carrera. The book is designed by Oficina de Disseny and can be purchased on the day of the opening and during the entire duration of the exhibition.

Both the exhibition and publication mark the beginning of the label’s 10-year-celebrations, which will continue throughout 2019 with a tour and a compilation, among various other things. A series of events that also mark the beginning of a new cycle for Hivern, as is represented in the logo that UK-based studio DR.ME has designed specially for the anniversary.
